Students participating in Consulting Scholars benefit from guidance offered by a faculty advisor with extensive experienced in the consulting industry, access to numerous working professionals in the field, and useful information about career pathways related to consulting. Additionally, students will gain a full spectrum of professional experiences in the industry – from completing and submitting a Request for Proposal to presenting conclusions to clients.

Consulting Scholars provides selected students a personalized program designed to develop in each participant:

  • A clear understanding of the consulting industry and its hiring process
  • Knowledge of the various career paths available in the industry
  • The heightened skill levels required to identify and gain internships and/or full-time placement in consulting and related industries

To prepare students for working in the consulting industry, specific attention will be paid to preparation for the case interview process that is common in the consulting industry. Professionals with case interviewing experience will work with students to help them begin to use a suggested framework approach to case questions.

As part of the Consulting Scholars program, participants will have access to:

  • A faculty advisor who is experienced in the consulting field who will provide specific and critical guidance
  • A career coach with a strong knowledge of the hiring trends in the industry
  • An internal mentoring system, whereby students new to the program will work directly with students who have completed a consulting project
  • A small group luncheon to gain an understanding of "professional etiquette" at meals and social events
  • Networking and personal interaction with professionals in the field of consulting which can lead to mentoring relationships

Consulting Scholars is targeted but not limited to students pursuing the Certificate in Honors Business Consulting. The program is designed to take over three semesters with an end result being the thesis project. If you have additional questions about the program you can contact Professor Dan Brooks.
