2012-2013 McCord Scholars

The McCord Scholarship program was established in 2006 through a $10 million donation to three Arizona university business schools. The generous gift included $6 million for W. P. Carey students, $3 million for students at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, and $1 million for students at the W. A. Franke College of Business at Northern Arizona University. The $6 million gift to the W. P. Carey School was the largest single-donor undergraduate scholarship gift in ASU's history.

"The intent of the McCord Scholars Program is to make sure that the most talented students with financial need will be able to finish their education in a top business program," said Robert E. Mittelstaedt Jr., dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business. "We are grateful to the McCords for their support of this important strategic initiative. Their endowment means that we can literally provide for the McCord Scholars each year in perpetuity."

The McCord Scholarship endowment is expected to provide recipients with a maximum of $10,000 each, distributed over two semesters, for up to 10 McCord Scholars selected each year. It is funded to assist students in meeting the costs of tuition and fees, books and living expenses.

To be eligible for the McCord Scholarship, a student must:

• Be an Arizona resident.
• Be regularly admitted to the W. P. Carey School of Business as a professional program student at the junior or senior class level.
• Pursue a minimum of 12 hours of grade-level work per semester, and make regular progress toward a four-year undergraduate degree.
• Demonstrate leadership abilities and involvement in student and professional organizations.
• Earn a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average.
